A fine Napoléon Epire II fireplace, late 19th century, found in Brussels-Belgium. Empire II fireplaces are heavily influenced by the classical temple architecture of the Greeks and Romans. Two bronze Cariatids above the tapered jambs supporting the double shelf. The Bleu Turquin marble (Italien) is appleid with several Ormolu, decorating the frieze, endblocks and jambs. The Bleu Turquin marble is used since classical times. Particularly popular as material for Empire sculptures, furniture and fireplaces, due to its softines, strength, élegance and air of luxury. The word 'marble' means 'Cristalline Rock': Shining stone. Light is able to penetrate millimeters into the marble, producing the characteristic 'glow', that seems to give life to the surface of the marble. This fireplace can be delivered with an original Empire cast-iron fireback, great if you wanna make a real open fire. Fireplace will be delivered with original,old marble floortiles, Bleu Turquin and Carrara, to make a frontfloor. Fireplace is in perfect condition, no restorations has been made. Easy to re-install.
