Phenomenal Pair of Wall Coats of Arms in Travertine, depicting a particular fasces lictors with a Roman eagle on top, carved and handcrafted, dating back to 1927-28, as indicated in the engraved dating.
They come from an important and exclusive private collection of objects of the period, Rome. Beautiful pair, right and left. Almost impossible to find two objects of such quality still in pairs and intact.
The fasces lictorii were, in Ancient Rome, the weapons carried by lictors, were then taken as a symbol by fascism.
