A complete set of eight engravers burins in a hexagonal wooden block.


A set of burins. Fitted in a hexagonal wooden block Height of block 8 cm. Length of the burins varying from 5 to 10 cm. Burins are the tools of engravers. This particular set dates back to around 1800. They were made and used in Holland. One is marked with initials :"V.I.". The set is complete and in mint condition.

A piercing device. High 6,5 cm. Length of needle 2 cm. This brass instrument when pressed reveals a sharp needle of two centimeters long. Its purpose is not quite clear. On its foot it is marked: " D.R.P. ang PICO ". It appears to be in mint condition.

A boxed precision enlarging instrument. Size of box: 9 x 6 x 4 cm. Size of instrument: 7 x 4.5 x 3 cm. The brass instrument allows a vieuw through an enlarging lens on a small indicating steel arrow. The original leather covered box has a green velvet lining. Both instrument and box are in mint and perfectly functioning condition. Made in Europe around 1800.

Two piggy banks. Made of iron. One painted green, high 8 cm, and one painted orange, high 12 cm. Each with a well functioning small brass padlock with a key. Both in very good and used condition. Dutch, nineteenth century.

A hat measure. Size (fully extended) 23 cm. Size (minimal extension) 17,5 cm. Wide 15,5 cm. Marking signs on both insides and on the top. Fixation with three wing nuts. Form and size of the wing nuts are suggestive of an eighteenth century origin. Mint condition. European. Possibly French or English. Hat measures are rare.

A farriers shop sign. High 70 cm. Wide 57 cm. Thick 5 cm. Shaped as a large horse shoe. Painted in an attractive blue colour. With original hand forged wrought iron hanging hook. From a farrier in a Dutch provincial town. In very good condition considering its age and exposure to the elements. Holland, eighteenth century.

A miniature bed step. High 27 cm. Wide 15,5 cm. Deep 15 cm. Entirely painted in the Hindeloopen style. With on both sides a very delicately painted parrot. Furthermore many flowers and typical Hindelooper "guirlandes". In mint condition with an old repair to the foot on the left. Made in Hindeloopen around 1750.  Miniature Hindeloopen furniture of this quality and age is extremely rare.

A three dimensional diorama in wood. Wide 19,5 cm. High 12,5 cm. Deep 6 cm. Made by Cornelis Bavelaar the Younger (1777-1831) in Leiden. Museum "De Lakenhal" in Leiden has a large collection of diorama's by Cornelis Bavelaar. This very unusual bavelaar shows a tremendous household skirmish with a father beating with a stick and a mother with a bowl of rubbish and damaged furniture all over the place. The dog likes it very much, which does not go for the children. The bavelaar is in pristine condition. On the back an old description of bavelaars in general.

An 18th century cold enamel painted Bohemian glass made for the Dutch marked and inscribed "HOLLAND 17-61".


A Bohemian glass. High 8 cm. Upper diameter 5,5 cm. Diameter foot 4,5 cm. Cold enamel painted with the text "HOLLAND 17-61". And on the other side a coat of arms with a crowned Dutch lion. Apparently this glass was made for the Dutch market. Mint condition. With a clear and unpolished pontil.  An extremely rare find.
